The one place on my bucket list that I’m planning to visit is two places: Australia and New Zealand. I would like to see as many countries as possible in my life time, and these seem like a beautiful place to start.
If someone comes to visit from out of town, it is usually my family for our annual family cruise. Our overseas family members are always so excited to go on a cruise and spend family time together … no cell phones.
Go Florida State Seminoles! Why? It’s a family affair … as an alumna and oldest of three siblings, all graduates of FSU, we’ve enjoyed years of infamous football weekends and tailgates and will continue the tradition for years to come.
If someone comes to visit me from out of town, I always take them to Marietta Square, my hometown, with no shortage of historical landmarks, great food, fun window shopping, and a fantastic farmer’s market on the weekends.
As a native Atlantan, my favorite sports team is the Atlanta Braves. I’ve seen them at Fulton County Stadium, The Ted, and now at new SunTrust Park. Some of my favorite players throughout the years have been Hank Aaron (whom I had the pleasure of meeting), Dale Murphy, Brett Butler, Tom Glavin, John Smoltz, Javier Lopez, and Sid Bream, who scored the winning run to clinch the 1992 NLCS and take the Braves to the World Series.
When I’m not planning amazing events, my favorite thing to do is check out all the local festivals (and see how well they’ve been planned!). My two favorite festivals are the Dogwood Festival at Piedmont Park in the spring and the Atlanta Arts Festival in the fall. What makes these festivals so special to me is that I’ve been around to see them get better and better (and struggle some years). My mother, a major jazz enthusiast, used to be in charge of bringing in the jazz acts to play at the annual arts festival back in the day, and my memory of meeting Dizzy Gillespie will always be with me.
If I could revisit one place from my travels, I would go to Bermuda – my husband and I first honeymooned there 30+ years ago and we have been back one other time since then. To me it is not only one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever traveled, but I love the people there and their hospitality.
I love taking visitors to the Georgia Aquarium – I get so excited every time I go. Love to see the huge tanks, the belugas, and especially love to be there at feeding time. Now, we have SunTrust Park, which is very close to me. This is going to be one the “new places” to take guests. With the Battery and all its restaurants, you can’t go wrong!
On my bucket list, I want to spend a week on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. It has everything I love… beaches and mountains! I want to go to the Furore Fiordo, which is considered one of the most interesting geological features on the Coast. You can descend stairs that cascade down the gorge’s stony cliffs and either take a dip , admire the surrounding scenery, or explore the other trails situated on the beach. It is supposed to be picturesque and I would love to see it one day!
One place I long to revisit is Thailand. It is beautiful and there are so many different things to do and see. You also cannot go wrong with Thai food. My favorite place in Thailand that I visited was Ko Samui.
When I am traveling, I miss my cat, Louie. I adopted him two-and-a-half years ago, and he has the best personality and is very food motivated. It is hard to leave him but I always get a nice greeting of “purrs” from him when I come home.
If I could revisit one place from my travels, I would return to South Africa. It was one of the most enlightening and educational trips I have ever experienced.
When I’m not planning amazing events, I’m on a boat – something about being in the open waters combined with the various sounds of the water hitting the boat is soothing.
The one place on my bucket list that I’m planning to visit: Iceland. I’ve always wanted to go there and it’s so beautiful based on pictures and videos I have seen.
